Meet the Artist

There's a human behind Abstract Possibilities. (Me, it's me.)

I am a self-taught artist in Lakeland, Florida. My creative journey began as an attempt to pull myself out of not-so-seasonal depression. I was sure I would be a terrible artist, because I was terrible at everything (or so I felt at the time). But, knowing form the outset that the finished pieces would be garbage alleviated the pressure to produce "good" work, and I was able to simply enjoy the process. And during that time when I was miserable every minute of every day, I found I was less miserable when I was painting.

Then, plot twist! Not everything I painted was terrible!

My favorite thing about abstract art is the endless possibility of interpretation. If I sit down an decide to paint a tree, someone else might look at the finished piece and feel that it's a creative representation of a bridge, and that's great! It's absolutely a bridge! The person isn't wrong simply because it isn't what I felt when I created it. They're right because whatever they feel called to see is what it is.

When I'm not painting, I work in healthcare as a data analyst, and I enjoy spending time with my wife, my dog, and my cat. (The cat doesn't enjoy spending time with us, but that's fine.) When I'm not at work or in my studio, I can be found at the professional women's soccer matches in Orlando, screaming from the supporters' section.
